On site production and use of recycled water is a key component of Westfields sustainability initiatives in the redevelopment of its Sydney CBD site. In combination with high efficiency tapware the site wide water strategy aims to reduce commercial water use by 80% and retail water use by up to 50%.
Up to 100% of the site sewage will be collected and treated using an MBR, Reverse Osmosis (for salt removal), UV and Chlorine and reused in toilet flushing, cooling towers and irrigation.
